When planning your visit to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, it’s essential to consider logistics. Conveniently located at 1222 S 27th St, Lincoln, NE 68502, the zoo is about an hour drive from Omaha. Operating hours are daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, offering ample time for exploration and discovery. Admission prices vary for different age groups, with adults (ages 13-61) priced at $15.95, children (ages 2-12) and seniors (62 & over) at $13.95, while kids 1 and under enter free. Ample parking is available off A Street, ensuring a hassle-free start to your adventure. We went during a week day and there was plenty of parking available in the main lot right by the entrance.

Once inside the zoo, prepare to be captivated by the diverse array of animals calling it home. With over 400 creatures, ranging from majestic giraffes and sleek cheetahs to playful red pandas and Humboldt penguins, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

One highlight of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo is the Giraffe Feeds experience, where visitors can feed the gentle giants lettuce for a memorable encounter. At just $3.50 per bundle, it’s an unforgettable activity for both kids and adults alike. My toddler was too scared to feed the lettuce to the Giraffes, but he loved watching me feed them. He even asked if we could do it a second time before leaving. Now his favorite animal is a Giraffe!

For those seeking a different kind of adventure, make sure to do the train ride. The train took 2 laps around the perimeter of the zoo and even went through a small tunnel. Since there weren’t a lot of people, the conductor even went around offering to take pictures of all the riders. The views aren't spectacular, and you don't see many animals, but my toddler loved it. Priced at $3 per ride, it’s a must-do for train enthusiasts of all ages. Additionally, visitors can get up close and personal with camels and alpacas by feeding them for just $2, an activity sure to delight animal-loving kiddos.

There are many interactive play areas throughout the zoo, featuring climbing structures, slides, a nature play area, and even a dino dig. These well-maintained areas provide hours of entertainment and exploration for children of all ages. We loved stopping to play at all of these and it's where we spent most of our time. During the summer months, families can cool off at the stream area, where kids can splash and play to their heart's content.

As you explore the zoo, be sure to take a break and recharge at the Monkey Jungle area while your kids climb and play. Treat yourself to a specialty coffee as you unwind amidst the playful antics of the resident monkeys. There are also bathrooms in here including a nursing room.

The pony ride experience is no longer at the zoo. The zoo expects to utilize the space for a variety of temporary experiences and general-use offerings as they work on the long-term plan for the space. Currently it has picnic tables set up for your use.

Wagon rentals are also available near the entrance for $7, perfect for little ones who need a break from walking. They are shaped like a car so if you have a car loving toddler like mine, I'd recommend forgoing the stroller or be prepared to distract as you walk by them.

In conclusion, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo offers a memorable experience for families seeking adventure and fun. With its convenient location, affordable admission, and diverse attractions, it's the perfect destination for a day of exploration in Lincoln, Nebraska.
